Village snobbery

What is all this snobbish assumption that Rustington is a village?

It has never been a village for at least 100 years, has it ?

The definition of a village is this :

“A group of houses and associated buildings, larger than a hamlet and smaller than a town, situated in a rural area. A self-contained district or community within a town or city, regarded as having features characteristic of village life.” There is no way, with the amount of development going on, together with what is to come, that Rustington will ever be a village again.

If you’re deluded that this is a village, so be it.
