Wanting to help

LAST month I was discharged from the Royal Sussex Hospital, Brighton, 10 days after a double bypass heart operation. But two days later my left leg, from which a vein had been removed, started to bleed and I was admitted to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings.

At that stage I could barely walk, but within four days, with very good doctors and nurses caring for me, I was allowed home with very little pain and able to walk unaided.

Now, inspired by Bexhill Hospital League of Friends raising money to buy electrically adjustable beds for the Irvine Unit, I would like to do something similar for the Conquest, which I noticed also has need of such beds, by way of giving something back for the care I received there.

I wonder if others feel the same way, particularly anyone with previous experience of charitable fund-raising who might be able to help? We all use the Conquest in one way or another, so let’s make it a hospital to be proud of.
