Warnings ignored

ON FEBRUARY 24 I went into the plush Arun Civic Centre to report to West Sussex County Council three things, including a road traffic sign in Arundel Road in danger of collapsing and possibly injuring someone.

After a complete lack of action, I phoned the county council on July 21, to be told an engineer had been sent out to look, but it was not known what action was planned. My phone number and e-mail address were taken and I was told I would be contacted. To date, I have not.

Walking to the station last Monday, I saw the sign had collapsed and was lying on the pavement. So, despite six months’ warning, the county council failed to avoid a potentially dangerous accident occurring.

I think serious questions should be asked about their systems and procedures.
