Wary over wires

With reference to the two letters your printed about the fence on the new riverside promenade in Littlehampton (Gazette, March 26), I agree with both these concerned people.

My husband and I went to see the new prom and the first thing I noticed was the ridiculous wires linking the metal railings. I have a three-year-old grandson and I know, as with most children, the first thing he would do is try to climb up these wires.

How could our council and the designers have been so blind to this dangerous issue? Why wasn’t this stretch of prom barrier made the same as the stretch along by the harbour office up to the lifeboat station?

Surely something needs to be done to correct this.
