We are thriving in a flawed EU

This referendum has ceased to be about the EU for me and has become instead an effort to stop the madness of Brexit.

It might not have been that way, if those leading Britain’s departure from the EU had bothered to work out a positive vision for a future outside it. But they haven’t, despite having decades to think about it.

It’s all very well for the rich and powerful to tell me that we’ll recover from the economic shock of leaving, or that extra austerity will be good for us in the long run, but would they like to come to my children’s school and tell the kids why they won’t be going on holiday or why dad has lost his job?

I see the pros and cons of being in the EU, but Brexit looks like one big con to me.

Right now, thriving (and we are thriving) inside a flawed EU seems greatly preferable to just surviving as a smaller, weaker, and poorer country outside it.

I will vote remain, and I hope the rest of the country wakes up to the dangers of a half-baked Brexit in time to do the same.
