We don’t need three councils

I fully sympathise with Mike Dunne’s letter (Gazette, October 18) regarding Tory councillors on Arun District Council.

The late, great local socialist Stan Natrass once said to me: “Whenever anything was put forward for Littlehampton, all the Tories would vote against it.”

How can the Conservative councillor David Britton, or anone else, serve on three councils effectively?

And why, in these austere times, do they still have three councils? Surely Arun and West Sussex County Council should be merged.
