We need to take back control

As a farmer, I am shocked that it has been kept secret that we have been paying £6bn to the European Union to fund the EU's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Well, we don’t mind making a contribution to be dispersed amongst farmers who are struggling possibly at the expense of those multi-millionaire farmers that farm thousands of our green and pleasant, British, acres.

However, this is not the case. The Express has discovered that a mere £3bn is returned from the EU to our farmers.

Yes, our farmers are funding the farmers on the continent to the tune of £3bn.

A worthy endeavour you may say; helping those farmers abroad who are struggling to make ends meet.

Put into clarity this means that we are contributing £3bn to support foreign farmers instead of our own.

Well, if this is not a clear indication that Brexit will be better off for our farming, our food, our livelihoods, then what else is there?

Furthermore many of us have been appalled at the unwelcome intervention of a foreign power telling the British people what they should be doing.

I am referring to the intervention of USA President Obama who has delved to the depths of implying, ‘do as I say rather than do as I do’.

Never on a month of Sundays would he ever allow Mexico to tell the USA what they should be doing!

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has enabled the UK to trade with the USA for many decades so all President Obama’s rhetoric is yet more of project fear!

‘End of the queue’, he says. Sorry Mr President; you are but one nation in a global trading situation of modern times.

The 21st-century Brexit entails global trading both with our current trading nations as well as those of emerging trading credentials.

The UK is not like either Norway or Switzerland; we are a far greater power both militarily and economically.

In most cases other nations are very dependent on our trade with them.

The expression, ‘they need us more than we need them’ is true.

Outside the EU, Britain will be an additional, powerful lobbyist against the likes of Putin.

Britain is already a key member of NATO and 5-Eyes but as an independent state will be even more influential.

Whether it be chucking good fish back into the sea under ridiculous EU regulations, or the CAP, or the immigration, or the domination of EU laws over our British laws or the basic fact that Britain is and will be subservient to the EU dominated by Germany, we need to register our referendum vote on June 23 for leaving this bureaucratic, experimental deception that attempts to take over the control of our island nation.
