Once again one sees Conservative councillor Rob Lee losing no opportunity to vehemently attack his Labour colleagues in local government. And by selecting the closed public toilets as one of his grievances he shows himself to be out-of-date, as elsewhere in the Observer (26th June) we learn that those that were re-opened were almost immediately, vandalised, and have had to be closed once again for repairs.

As for his accusation of bungled Labour leadership in the council’s caution in opening up Hastings for the sake of the local economy, perhaps we should learn from the fact that America has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases since too rapidly relaxing restrictions, which are now having to be re-imposed.
