Which proposal is the priority?

Having read all the documents relating to a planning application to install three large containers at the old household waste site in Freshfields for the purpose of storing liquid waste (leachate)produced from landfill sites across our region (prior to treatment at the Waste Water facility), it appears that the people running the Country Park plan did not, officially, declare the ex-household waste site as belonging to the Country Park proposal. Hence, the waste company decided to use the site for the three containers.

Our RDC panning department put forward objections for the waste proposal. All of the objections were “shot down in flames” by the waste company involved.

ESCC therefore allowed the application for the containers at the expense of the Country Park proposals.

The problem, as far as I can determine, is the lack of a plan for the Country Park. All the ideas for the park are merely a wish list of ideas with no legal backing or planning permissions in situ.

The ESCC, the Country Park team, RDC and whoever else is involved, should all get their act together.

Is the Country Park a priority or is an industrial area at Freshfields with waste facilities the priority?

As for an incinerator in this location; a Government Inspector stated that Pebsham was a reserved site for an incinerator if the incinerator at Newhaven ever reached or surpassed its capacity. When the council held an exhibition for the routing of the link road their model of the area had football fields allocated as “reserved for waste facilities”, painted in red.

The new housing estate in North East Bexhill has football pitches planned. Are these an excuse to show the existing football pitches would be replaced once an incinerator was built, I wonder?

I would suggest people in Bexhill should contact their local councillors to get an explanation of what is really intended for Pebsham and the affect any further waste facilities would have on this area. Apathy is not an option.
