Making words count

The Wordsmith

Poetry and prose – the writing of the inspired

Ones who’ve had their imaginations fired

Provocative and challenging with their points of view

Geniuses, looking at the nature of life a-new

Flowery language that borders on the absurd

From convention and rule, set free like the bird

The craft of simple words formed into high art

Defending the underdog – they’ve played a large part

Collectively – of great inspiration and influence

Creators of seminal works and deliberate nonsense

It would be great to be revered like Kipling or Blake

But even this little poem was difficult to make.
