Walk ruined by cyclists on pier

The pier at Hastings has now been open to the public for a few weeks.

I had not been one of the thousands to visit until about a week ago.

I did read that to start with dogs would not be allowed up on the pier, now I read that this has been changed.

It was a lovely evening and I was enjoying a stroll along our great pier.

This, however, was suddenly ruined by cyclists.

My concern would be in case children and the elderly on the pier may get injured by bike riders.

I thought that the people responsible for having the pier open to the public stated that it could be re-built back to the Victorian era where people could walk to the end and enjoy the view over the sea and look back toward the seafront.

In 1872, the Hastings pier was opened for which various people at that time called it “The Palace on the Sea” and allowed the Victorian locals and visitors to stroll along and enjoy.

We have to put up with cyclists on the town paths now, I did think that the pier would be one place they would be banned.

I often wonder if in the future someone will invent a small cycle to enable people to ride around in the house, perhaps that is why some people have them.
