Watch this space, it's not over yet

It's not over yet. The Hastings council cabinet asked for an expensive change to the proposed route which might involve building a new track right across the field where the Country Show and other events take place '“ will they approve this when it comes back to them from the county?

The park belongs to the borough council, after all, and not the county.

There has also been no mention of a risk assessment, given the steep slopes and blind corners in the upper part of the route.

Everything else in the park gets risk-assessed, why not this most risky proposal of all?

Finally, the cabinet members approved the idea of a special enforcement officer to ensure that cyclists follow their new rules.

This post is not in the council’s present budget and in fact jobs are being cut – including one of only four park rangers - making it unlikely that this increased cost will be included in the next budget. So watch this space. It ain’t over until it’s over.
