Orphan Aberdeen Angus calf adopted by Jersey cow

A Jersey cow at Fishers Farm Park near Wisborough Green has adopted an orphan calf in an action that has '˜absolutely melted our hearts', said Fishers' director Kate Rollings.

Kate explained: “Merida our new little Aberdeen Angus calf was an orphan from a local farm.

We were going to hand-rear her with milk bottles, and keep her with Jessie - our absolutely amazing Jersey cow - for company.

However, we came in one morning to see that Jessie has suddenly started to produce milk for her and is she is suckling on her as if she was her Mum! I even saw her ‘lick-bathing’ her in the field!”
