Overheated pan
A Bexhill fire crew answered an emergency call at Anglesea Terrace in St Leonards at midday on Sunday.
They were covering for their Hastings colleagues from 8.30-4pm who were involved in a decontamination exercise at Eastbourne District General Hospital.
Two appliances and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the incident just off London Road at 11.59 which happened when a pan caught fire in a first floor flat.
The aerial ladder was needed to gain access to the flat as the main entrance door has a triple lock.
