Owls are lazy creatures. They sit still for 23 hours a day. They wait for their dinner to come to them."

The coffee morning was held by the Friends of the Laburnum Centre. Friends' chairman Iris Riddle said the idea was to raise the centre's profile.

"We had the owls at the centre but only the members were here.

"We wanted all ages to have the chance to enjoy them. We have had a lot of children in and they have been delighted by seeing the owls."
