Packed Felpham hotel to add another six bedrooms

A POPULAR Felpham hotel to be extended.

The Beachcroft Hotel, in Clyde Road, has been granted permission by Arun District Council for an extension to the rear of the property.

The two-storey extension, which will face onto Canning Road, will house a function room on the ground floor and six en-suite bedrooms on the first.

Hotel owner Robert Warham was at the meeting of the council’s development and control committee last Wednesday to see the scheme unanimously approved conditionally.

He said: “The hotel is very seasonable and what the function room would allow us to do would be to increase its use during the five winter months.

“We are aware of the parking problems which exist in Felpham and we will do anything to help aid with that.”

Some 14 letters of objection to the application were received.

Among concerns raised by residents were impact and noise on Canning Road, lack of parking and anti-social behaviour taking place after functions.

Member Elaine Stainton said: “The Beachcroft Hotel is an asset to Felpham village and to Bognor Regis.

“I do not think the added function room will cause an added problems.

“I know when I attend an event I normally arrive and depart by taxi.

“A lot of people do this so there would be no extra cars parking.”
