Paddlers' Pedal Appeal

ARUNDEL Pool supporters will be pedalling instead of paddling to raise funds for their appeal.

And they are recruiting other cyclists to join them on the first sponsored mountain bike ride in aid of the appeal.

It takes place on Sunday, October 20, starting and finishing at the site of the open air pool, which the Arundel and Downland Community Leisure Trust hopes to completely refurbish in a near-2m scheme.

The 20-mile circular bike route takes in beautiful Downland scenery, passing through Amberley, Bignor and Slindon, including some of the South Downs Way.

People interested in taking part must raise a minimum of 20 sponsorship or pay a 20 entry fee, and all riders have to wear a helmet and be reasonably fit, as there will be some difficult sections on the route.

Depending on riders' fitness and on conditions on the day, the circuit is expected to take around four hours to complete.

Registration is from 9am on the day, with riders setting off at 10am. Refreshments will be available at the pool.
