RESIDENTS met MP Tim Loughton and councillors in a bid to improve leisure facilities at The Paddocks, Lancing.

The East Worthing and Shoreham MP has previously met residents of The Paddocks and Cowley Drive, together with police, to discuss concerns over vandalism and anti-social behaviour in the area.

The residents claimed a lack of leisure facilities around the area were making the problems worse.

These included dog mess on the grass, sections of the park prone to flooding and a lack of formal pitches and play areas.

Mr Loughton was joined by councillors for Widewater, Tony Nicklen and Wendy Gray, and also Adur Watch manager Clive Bramble at the weekend meeting.

Mr Nicklen said: "I am pleased to report progress has been made already as a result of the discussions held at The Paddocks.

Adur council is looking into providing extra dog fouling bins, hard-core covering at the entrance to the park, along with the possibility of football posts being installed and seating away from houses.

"I and fellow councillor Wendy Gray will be distributing questionnaires to residents to get their feedback on how to improve facilities at the park.

"I am sure we can make a constructive improvement to the park, which will give our local young people opportunities to channel their energies."
