Parkhurst concert raises £330 for Surviving Christmas

WELL over 60 people attended last Thursday's Christmas concert in Parkhurst Hall in aid of Surviving Christmas.

The event was a great success and raised 329.96 for Surviving Christmas.

The chairman of the charity, Judith Wycherley, was there, and spoke to the audience about their valuable work.

Hilary Malpass told the story of Pinderella (a Spoonerised version of Cinderella which had everyone in fits of laughter) and later read one of her poems, in a more serious vein, entitled No Room In The Fridge.

Katherine McKenna and Karafa-Jasmine Janneh danced a duet with a Christmas morning theme; and Alice McKenna did a solo song and dance about Enjoying Being A Girl.

The ladies of Bexhill Harmony sang a variety of songs from their extensive repertoire to an appreciative audience, in addition to serving appetising refreshments in the interval.

A Salvation Army ensemble from the Hastings Temple (Ore), led by Nigel Bassett,kindly gave of their time at this busy period by playing some favourite carols and recounting amusing anecdotes, as well as telling of their work in the community.

The live music was much appreciated by the audience who sang along heartily.
