It's great to see our town is finally riding the crest of a wave of investment with some fab projects coming to plan.

Not only do we have the Montague Centre given the go ahead, attracting some huge-name eateries which will bring many more shoppers to the town, we also have the new Union Place development starting to bear fruit.

Caps off to the council for putting their money where their mouth is and giving the whole area the kick-start it needs.

With plans for a new multiplex cinema, retail and residential it brings three much-needed developments together in one area.

For years and years customers tell us the same thing – they will go to Chichester, Portsmouth, Brighton and the like not only for the shopping but also for a multiplex and some of the brand-name restaurants.

If we can draw some of those customers back with these exciting new plans then us smaller businesses can feed off of their footfall.

Not only this, the new plans from Roffey Homes for the eyesore that is the Aquarena site were unveiled on Tuesday and it was lovely to see the plans for the area at the Chatsworth Hotel.

I have always backed the proposed development of this site but with the slightly smaller tower and more in keeping designs, which fit nicely alongside the Splashpoint Leisure Centre, I will keeping everything crossed that this gets approval when it goes to the planning committee.

It’s time to drag Worthing into the 21st century!
