Paul Wells declared winner of byelection

The Liberal Democrat candidate Paul Wells has been declared the winner of Aldwick East ward in Arun District Council's byelection.

Mr Wells received 383 votes, closely followed by Conservative Bill Smee, who had 357 votes.

UKIP’s Janet Taylor gained 339 votes, while Labour candidate Richard Dawson received 61 votes.

The turnout was 26.79 per cent.
