Please help us achieve this goal by supporting all these clubs, and all the fundraising events, it will benefit all of us.

Another great evening with excellent local band Stranded at the Cock Inn last Saturday. Stranded comprise guitar and vocals Nigel Polley, lead guitar Tim Rook, bass and backing vocals Darren Pooley and drums Richard Seymour. They have a lot of local gigs coming up, check them out on Facebook; I will let you know when they are back in Peasmarsh!

n A small group of interested residents braved the bitter weather last Friday to discuss plans for the Jubilee celebrations.

A number of exciting ideas have been put forward. Now we need to make decisions and start serious planning.

It is proposed that we hold a major event at the Recreation Ground on Saturday June 2.

During the afternoon there would be a band, stalls and sideshows, and other ideas put forward include a children’s fancy dress parade, sports, a tea party for the children with a bouncy castle, a dog show and/or display, a skateboard display, a raffle, and varied refreshments, BBQ and a licensed bar.

In the evening perhaps another music group and disco with the bar and BBQ continuing.

It is hoped that more village groups will come forward with activities they would like to promote.

While it is hoped that funds will be raised, initially for the Oliver Curd Trust and the Hall Refurbishment project, the principal aim of this exercise will be to get the village together to have a good time without having to spend much money, and to give the children an experience they will remember and treasure.

Other potential ideas for activities, either on the Saturday, or on the following 3 days of the holiday are: Sunday: a special church service/church parade. Open Gardens. Monday: not a lot as people will probably want to stay at home and watch the television.

There is a Tea Party planned at the Horse and Cart. A treasure hunt round the village (for families). Or a paper chase. Tuesday: Some sort of “Fun” match at the Rec ground. Bowls ? Cricket? Stoolball? Dodgeball ? Tug’o’War ?

In addition to these proposed activities souvenirs of the occasion will be given to the children. There are plans to hold a photographic competition. A possible award for the best-kept garden?
