Speaking after successfully completing the fundraiser, the 41-year-old said: “I am very humbled by people’s generosity and also a little bit tired! Pretty much sums up my frazzled emotions right now.

“It was more mentally challenging at times than I had expected, concentrating on the games and regularly checking in on Instagram was a lot to juggle. But overall it was a lot of fun.

“More importantly, so far I have raised over £1,200 for Dementia UK.”

In the lead up to his marathon, Nick organised a number of giveaways to raise awareness for the event.

Winners of these giveaways were announced during live interactive games throughout the 24-hour period on his Instagram page with bonus prizes up for grabs if the winner watching when their name was drawn.

Nick managed to reach his £500 fundraising target before the board game marathon even began.

The Raise Your Game campaign – which aks people to play their favourite board games to raise funds – is running throughout October so Dementia UK can continue supporting families through its Admiral Nurse service.

Hilda Hayo, chief executive of Dementia UK and chief Admiral Nurse, said: “People affected by dementia can feel isolated, and games can be an excellent way to help them communicate and have fun.

“Our first-ever Raise Your Game fundraising event is a welcome addition to our events calendar.

“We are delighted to have fundraisers like Nick taking part to raise money for more dementia specialist Admiral Nurses.”
