Pevensey and Pevensey Bay have recently participated in Village in Bloom 2021. Due to the pandemic, last year’s competition was cancelled so the villagers were called upon to produce a colourful garden this year. Overall winners were Joe and Mandie Fuller from Bridge End in Pevensey (pictured).

Community First Responders held a collection in Morrison Eastbourne to raise money and awareness of the voluntary emergency first aid service. Pictured in yellow are Alec and Betty Stephens, both friends of Community First responders, and in red are Richard Bradford, group team leader and senior responder Charlotte. The collection, which took place on Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12, raised £734 from generous Morrisons customers.

A group of 20 NHS workers attached to Ivy Park Surgery took part in a 15-mile walk from Eastbourne Pier to Hastings Pier. The walk was in aid of Motor Neurone Disease as a close friend of the surgery has been diagnosed with the illness. The walk raised more than £6,000.

Rev Alan Weaver was collated and inducted as the new vicar of St Richard’s church, Langney on September 23. For the past 16 years Alan has been vicar of St Michael’s, Jarvis Brook, Crowborough.
