Hide AdAccording to Paula Woolven, Havens Community Hub founder: “Chris and his wife also regularly do a 'food run' for us, collecting surplus supermarket food at the end of every day which is distributed rapidly free of charge to the local community.
“Some of the funding for which the Tough Mudder event was supporting is going to the Food Cooperative and the new community café we will be starting in Newhaven in May.
“The funding we are currently raising through matched funding is going to support the Hub's food project and new community café and also to look into more digital inclusion for people in the Havens.”

Hide AdThe Havens Food Cooperative currently saves three tonnes of food from waste and landfill every week and supports over 360 households, local groups and community events.
For every £1 raised for HFC, £7's worth of food is saved from waste and used by a local family or household free of charge.
