Chris Allen and his Team at C R Allen Garage in Peacehaven ran the gruelling Tough Mudder in aid of Haven’s Community Hub.

Throughout the muddy 5km extreme obstacle course, they were zapped with electricity, doused in ice cold water, and made to crawl through mud amongst other unpleasant activities.

Their efforts were not in vain though and have raised some much needed funds to help the Hub’s essential community work.

It’s not too late to donate via www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/costofliving.

According to Paula Woolven, Havens Community Hub founder: “Chris and his wife also regularly do a 'food run' for us, collecting surplus supermarket food at the end of every day which is distributed rapidly free of charge to the local community.

“Some of the funding for which the Tough Mudder event was supporting is going to the Food Cooperative and the new community café we will be starting in Newhaven in May.

“The funding we are currently raising through matched funding is going to support the Hub's food project and new community café and also to look into more digital inclusion for people in the Havens.”

The Havens Food Cooperative currently saves three tonnes of food from waste and landfill every week and supports over 360 households, local groups and community events.

For every £1 raised for HFC, £7's worth of food is saved from waste and used by a local family or household free of charge.
