A member of the public has kindly gifted the Yamaha G1 – which they had owned since new – to Collyer’s to see it go to a good home and continued to be played.
The piano has been placed in the memorial hall at the college and will be a fantastic resource for students at Collyer’s and also West Sussex Music, who will be able to make use of it in accompanying the Youth Choir.

“It will be of huge benefit to music students at Collyer’s and the West Sussex Music Academy, for solo performances as well as chamber music and A level recital accompanying, made even better by the acoustic of the memorial hall where it has been placed.
“Despite this time of limited musical activity being permitted, music is thriving at Collyer’s with some fantastic new resources, including new soundproofed practice rooms and 20 new iMacs.”
Student Ed Cozens is looking forward to playing the baby grand piano. He said: “[It] will be incredibly valuable to me in supporting my A-level Music studies here at Collyer’s.”
