The final will be broadcast on BBC Four on Sunday 10 May at 7pm, and will be available shortly afterwards on BBC iPlayer.

Daisy is one of only five woodwind musicians to have reached the finals out of the hundreds who entered the competition. The five winners of each category – Woodwind, Brass, Piano, String and Percussion – will compete in the semi-finals, after which the final three musicians will compete in the grand final for the title of Young Musician of the Year 2020. Dates have understandably been postponed, but it is hoped that the broadcasts will take place in the autumn.

Daisy studies with Susan Torke at the Junior Royal Academy of Music. She is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and also plays with her local orchestras. Daisy has played concertos with the Hastings Sinfonia, Sussex Concert Orchestra, EYSM and most recently with the London Mozart Players, and in November last year played to a sold-out audience at Homelink’s 20th anniversary gala at Glyndebourne.

Daisy said: “I am so excited to have reached this stage of BBC Young Musician 2020. I genuinely didn’t think that I would get this far, and to be performing alongside such talented musicians at this stage of the competition is just fantastic.”

Robert Scamardella, director of music at Bede’s, said: “We are incredibly excited for Daisy, who at only 16 years old has already achieved amazing things.”
