Beirut disaster relief funds collected in Storrington

A collection was held in Storrington for the victims of the Beirut disaster.

Members of the community have given generously to the Rotary Club of Storrington and Pulborough District’s collection for the British Red Cross emergency relief appeal, for those affected in the capital of Lebanon.

One hundred and 77 people are known to have died, 6,500 have been left injured and hundreds of thousands have lost their homes after the explosions on Tuesday, August 4, which devastated the port and surrounding area of Beirut.

A total of £475 was collected from shoppers in Old Mill Squarein Storrington and the Rotary Club and members pushed the donation up to £1,020 to send to the Red Cross to support the victims.
