Bexhill’s vaccine programme approaching 11,000 jabs and continuing without breaks

Patients received jabs at the Sidley Medical Practice over the weekend, where vaccines have been rolled out without a break since Tuesday last week.

This rollout will continue without a break until Tuesday next week at least, according to Dr Binodh C Bhaskaran, the clinical director of the Bexhill Primary Care Network.

By Monday, more than 8,000 vaccinations had been administered at the Sidley Practice Hub and by next Monday this should rise to close to 11,000, Dr Bhaskaran added.

Bexhill’s Covid-19 vaccine programme is being carried out at the Sidley Medical Practice and will see all patients registered with Collington Surgery, Little Common Surgery, Pebsham Surgery; and Sidley Medical Practice being offered their jabs.

Mr Bhaskaran said a lot of patients have also chosen to go to Brighton and Eastbourne mass vaccination centres.

After Wednesday, around 95 per cent of Bexhill’s care home residents had received the first dose of their vaccine.

The delay in reaching all residents is due to recent Covid illness among residents, which prevents them receiving the vaccine.

Bexhill’s vaccine team has also continued vaccinations of housebound patients this week and will carry on next week.

Nearly 75 housebound people had received their jabs by Monday and Dr Bhaskaran said he hopes to cover all housebounds by the end of next week.
