Black Lives Matter rally in Bognor Regis: in pictures

A Black Lives Matter rally has taken place in Bognor Regis.

From 12pm to 3pm, Hotham Park was filled with peaceful protesters showing their support for the Black Lives Matter movement, which has been launched back into the global spotlight following the recent killing of George Floyd by a police officer in the US. At 1pm, a silence was observed for those who have died at the hands of police brutality and speakers shared their stories of how they have been affected by racism, which was met with applause by those in attendance. Social distancing was observed by the protesters, many of whom were wearing masks. The Bognor rally follows similar protests in Worthing, Hastings and Shoreham, with demonstrations planned in Eastbourne, Brighton and Chichester. Mr Floyd died on May 25 in Minneapolis after white police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck, despite saying he could not breathe.
