Bognor pier fans start birthday card for Queen

Saying Happy Birthday 5,000 times is one way to make it a special occasion - and that's what Bognor Pier Trust intends to do. The trust launched its royal birthday challenge yesterday to produce a giant card to celebrate the Queen's 90th.

The first messages were due to be written at yesterday’s coffee morning of the Friends of Bognor Regis Pier. Chairman Jan Malpas, pictured, said: “We wanted to do something special to mark the Queen’s milestone birthday and to celebrate the fact that she came on holiday to this area when she was a child. We also thought it would be a fitting way of showing our pride in being one of the few Regis towns.” Details of where to write greetings for the card to be revealed next week.
