Brighton-based illustrator David Shrigley has collaborated with Cubitts opticians to design the cloth, with proceeds donated to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

The bright pink cloths feature original artwork by the artist and were launched in Cubitts stores, and on its website, on Valentine’s Day and can be bought for £5.

Shrigley’s piece ‘I loved you from the first moment I saw you’ features on the cloths which are a part of the optician’s efforts to become a more sustainable company.

All proceeds from the cleaning cloth will be donated to a guide dogs charity

“I’m very happy to collaborate with Cubitts to help guide dogs,” Shrigley said.

“Many charities compete for our attention these days and sometimes the vital work that Guide Dogs for the Blind Association does can be overlooked.

“This charity changes people’s lives and needs our support to continue.”

Cubitts previously collaborated with other UK artists, such as Tracy Emin and Camille Walala, raising more than £20,000 for charity to date.

“We like to celebrate everyday objects, whether that be your spectacles, or a quotidian cleaning cloth,” said Cubitts founder Tom Broughton.

“It’s an honour they can be a receptacle for David’s work, of which we’ve long admired.

“I hope that each clean will bring a smidgen of joy into your life and raise money for a very worthwhile cause.”

Shrigley said: “Artists make things for people to look at. Spectacles help people to look at things more clearly.

“The lens cloth helps people to see things clearer still, therefore, this collaboration is a very good thing.”

Guide Dogs for the Blind Association was founded in the 1930s and the charity is the world’s largest breeder and trainer of working dogs.
