The community event, which operates at The Kiln in the Martlets Shopping Centre, is holding the special event on Saturday, February 8.
Anne Eves, founder of the Repair Café, said: “We opened up just before Covid, and after only two sessions we had to close. But we quickly bounced back and are proud of the number of items we've been able to save from landfill for their owners. People are very welcome to pass by the Kiln on Saturday 8th between 10 and 1pm to see what we do and maybe enjoy some home-made cake.”

Burgess Hill Repair Café is a community event where volunteers help visitors repair broken or faulty items to stop them from being thrown away.
A note on the Repair Café’s website said: “It’s part of a global movement where experienced volunteers give their time to help people fix their damaged items, rather than discard them so they end up in landfill.”
It takes place on the second Saturday of every month between 10am and 1pm. It operates on a donation basis to help pay for the rent and upkeep of the Kiln, as well as Repair Café expenses like tools, glue and insurance.

They can also sharpen scissors, knives and garden equipment and offer computer advice. The website said the group will also try to fix mechanical equipment, furniture, jewellery and umbrellas. Some of the items they cannot repair include: large white goods, child car seats and other safety equipment, microwaves, bikes, ceramics, clocks, clockwork mechanisms and electric blankets.
