The whole-school event saw the children come to school dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up. The youngsters enjoyed talks from train drivers, zoo keepers, NHS staff and a journalist from this newspaper.

Hayley Davies, an engineer from Endecotts, gave Year Five and Six children a talk and presentation. She told the youngsters about her journey and life as a female engineer in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

The children heard about different types of engineering and learnt about roller-coasters, pharmaceutical particles and cars that travel at 1,000 mph.

Ben Bowles, head of school, said, “We were thrilled to host so many visitors to showcase many careers and essential skills for success. We challenged stereotypical, historic views and spoke frequently of equality in a range of workplaces.

“All children dressed up and their choices were very diverse too.”
