Chailey Heritage Foundation chief executive Gareth Germer said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen to receive one of these special trees for our contribution to the community. We are all looking forward to the Lord-Lieutenant’s visit to plant the tree and see the work we do for young people with complex disabilities.”
The tree will become part of the living legacy in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, joining more than a million trees already planted across the UK as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy. This UK-wide tree planting initiative was created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee and has been extended to the end of the planting season in March 2023.
The QGC ‘Tree of Trees’ sculpture was designed by Thomas Heatherwick to celebrate Her Majesty, who planted more than 1,500 trees all over the world during her 70-year reign.
