Chichester industrial site remains closed after significant fire damage

Multiple fire crews were called out just after 8.15pm to Jewson’s ‘well alight’ Stane Street branch last Tuesday.

This week, Richard Halderthay, a spokesman for Jewson, said: “While our Stane Street branch remains closed, we continue supporting local builders in Chichester from our Terminus Way branch, keeping any disruption for our customers to an absolute minimum.

“Colleagues from the Stane Street branch have been deployed to Terminus Way and alternative branches in the local area. Unfortunately there has been significant smoke damage, damage to stock, and damage affecting the structure of the warehouse therefore it will take a period of time to repair the branch before it is up-and-running again.

“We’re extremely grateful for the tremendous efforts of the fire service and their quick response on the evening of the fire.”

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed an investigation is still ongoing.
