Shows were scheduled to go ahead as normal earlier this week, but following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s statement last night (Monday, March 16), in which he urged people to avoid gatherings and crowded places, like clubs and theatres, the venue has decided to shut its doors.

A statement on the Hippodrome website reads: “In response to the advice given by the Prime Minister and UK Government surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we are closed until further notice. All ticket holders will be contacted in due course with information regarding the upcoming shows, alternative dates an refund options. Thank you for your patience and please bear with us at this time.”
