Crawley neighbours celebrate big People’s Postcode Lottery win

The prize comes after their postcode, RH11 9RL, was announced as a winner with the lottery on Saturday 24th April.

One of the neighbours to get their own golden envelope from the lottery was Lee Turner (34). He first learned of his windfall during a video call with lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier.

Lee was joined on the call by his partner Sarah and as the prize total was revealed the couple burst into laughter, Lee said: “Oh my God! That’s wicked, that’s amazing.”

Sarah added: “That is so good, I’m going to cry!”

Lee, who works as a builder, already had an idea on how the winnings could be spent: “We’re getting married next year and we’ve got another little baby on the way. It couldn’t have come at a better time really!

“Sarah has always wanted to go to Bora Bora for the honeymoon. I think it’ll go towards that.”

Sarah was thrilled as well and was excited to use some of the winnings towards the couple’s wedding: “We were thinking ‘do we get this, or do we get that?’ and we’d pick one thing, but now we can get both!”

The couple have lived at the lucky postcode for six years but are just in the process of moving to a nearby neighbourhood. With a two-year-old and another little one on the way Sarah was looking forward to getting treats for the family: “Maybe a swing set in the garden!”

When asked how they might celebrate Sarah had one idea spring to mind: “I just want to go out for a meal, I know it sounds silly but with everything opening up I just want to go out for a really nice meal and enjoy the food!”

The other winner chose to remain anonymous but their winnings will be transferred into their bank account.

Last month, Horley neighbours celebrated a £375,000 win. Everyday throughout the April draws one postcode will be announced as a £30,000 prize winner. All the players in the postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they hold.

People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £700 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.
