‘Delight’ as Splash Point in Seaford reopens to public

The tourist attraction closed to visitors in February after it was damaged in a storm.

Councillor Sylvia Dunn, chairman of the community services committee at Seaford Town Council, said: “Following its disappointing closure in February due to storm damage, the town council is delighted that repair work organised by Lewes District Council is complete, enabling Splash Point to be reopened to the public.

“Splash Point is a well-loved and used seafront asset, and residents and visitors alike will be pleased to see it reopened after it was closed following storm damage.

“The hard work to protect this popular and iconic seafront feature is a direct result of positive partnership working with a number of community groups, organisations, and local authorities, forming a Seaford Beach Partnership.”

In addition to the repair work organised by the district council and jointly funded by the town council, the collaboration of the Partnership has also resulted in new dedicated recycling bins for used fishing lines, new beach safety signs along the entire bay and a beach user guide which includes Covid-19 safety guidance.

Mrs Dunn added: “The town council is pleased to continue working with the Partnership to improve the seafront, making it an enjoyable and safe facility for all.
