The Battle based club were overwhelmed with support from the community, Hastings Lions and local businesses: Superstich86, Jempsons, Bookers and B&M who all helped the club make the campaign happen.

‘Bags of Kindness’ was an idea thought up by Director at the Club, Paula Everest. The idea being that the club would raise money to buy items such as tea, coffee, bottled water, and goodies to show support and appreciation to the staff at the Conquest Hospital and Hastings Ambulance Station to help keep them going when we need them the most.

Paula said: “The club is now delighted to have filled over 40 bags with all different items for these amazing key workers and they are now in the staff rooms on the wards and in the hubs in the community showing that we care and appreciate their work.

She added: “This campaign has been such a success. We are grateful to everyone who has donated and the thanks we have had from people receiving the bags has been wonderful.’

Following the success of the campaign Westerleigh are now launching another campaign to put together ‘Bags of Kindness’ for the local schools who are still open and supporting children during the Coronavirus outbreak.
