East Sussex woman sets up fundraiser for pet rescue in Spain

A woman from East Sussex has set up a fundraiser for a pet rescue in Pinoso, Spain

Chelsea Watson, 36, from St Leonard’s has always ‘dreamed’ of opening her own animal rescue shelter in Spain.

The rescue is called Finding Forever Homes, also known as FFH-5RS and it’s fundraising for a ‘forever home’ because it now operates on a rented property

She said: “The animals deserve a rescue full of life, ability to dig and bark and play, and have human contact as much as possible. I have had 652 dogs and cats adopted in my six years of running my own rescue centre.

“I wish to raise funds to get a property to call ours for the future and help more animals in need."Chelsea moved to Spain, gained some experience with dog rescuers in the Alicante region and then began to take in rescue dogs and find them their forever homes based at her small rented property near Pinoso.”

Chelsea has dedicated the past six years to running the rescue and has helped more than 650 dogs and cats find homes. FFH-5RS is built around its five principles of rescue, rehabilitate, re-home, reunite and retirement.

A number of supporters across the UK are now helping to raise awareness and funds.

One supporter, Katie Doyle, who runs Furever Friends Pet Services in Stevenage and has adopted three dogs from FFH-5RS herself, is organising a large fundraising raffle to support the campaign. She is currently looking for businesses willing to donate products, gift vouchers, experiences or other prizes that can be used in the raffle. Donations already received include dog products and a £100 paintballing voucher.
