The Eastbourne and district Samaritans, Chalk Farm Learning Disabilities Centre and Ronald McDonald House (Brighton) are the three in the running for this year’s People’s Charity at Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow.

The charities were shortlisted by a team of judges after more than 30 good causes applied to take part at this year’s show.

With voting now open, airshow fans and residents can bid for their favourite to receive a share of the donations from the Airbourne bucket collection this August.

Joining two other charities chosen by bucket collection organisers, the Rotary Clubs of Sovereign Harbour and Hailsham, the charities will receive promotion through the Airbourne souvenir programme, social media, Radio Airbourne and much more, all in return for supporting the bucket collections at the airshow with charity volunteers.

More importantly, between them the charities will receive 30 per cent of all donations at this year’s show, with over £90,000 donated to local charities so far.

Eastbourne council’s lead member for tourism and enterprise Margaret Bannister said, “Thank you to everyone who has nominated or applied so far, these are three incredible charities who do much to support the lives of people in Eastbourne and our surrounding area. We look forward to showcasing the brilliant work of the 2020 Airbourne charities, as well as encouraging visitors to dig deep and donate to keep Airbourne flying.”
