Eastbourne Council invites Ideas for events at 12 Bandstand dates

Eastbourne Borough Council has invited professional creatives, touring artists and creative organisations, as well as local performers and producers, to propose events for 12 Bandstand dates this summer.

A spokesperson for Eastbourne Borough council stated it was looking for ideas that would ‘surprise and delight’ Eastbourne audiences, ‘showcase high‑quality creative work, and bring new cultural experiences to our seafront’.

They added: “Events may be free or ticketed, and can be presented by individuals, collectives, or organisations with the capacity and professionalism to deliver a high‑quality public event.

“We welcome single‑bill events as well as double or triple bills that create a fuller experience or combine complementary artforms.

“The 12 available dates must fit around the Bandstand's existing programmed events. Applicants may state preferred dates, but final scheduling will be confirmed by Eastbourne Borough Council to ensure alignment with the wider Bandstand calendar.

"We especially welcome proposals from established and emerging professional creatives who want to try something new, bring touring work to the coast, or collaborate with local talent.

“Example event types include (but are not limited to): Live music of any genre, Jazz performances, opera or classical vocal work, talks, panel discussions, and cultural conversations, sound system events (with appropriate technical and noise management plans), dance or physical performance, theatre, cabaret, comedy or spoken word, cultural and heritage celebrations, family and community‑centred events, wellness, meditation or movement sessions, interdisciplinary or experimental work, curated double or triple bills from multiple artists or organisations.

“We want work that feels fresh, bold, or unexpected - something that gives Bandstand audiences a new experience.”
