Eastbourne ice rink won't return this Christmas, organisers confirm

Eastbourne’s ice rink will not return this year, its organiser has confirmed.

Organiser Feastival Events said due to ‘increased costs’ it was ‘unable to return with the ice rink this year’.

The company confirmed it ‘will be looking for a new location for the 2026 ice rink to return’.

The attraction, usually located in the Eastbourne Railway Station car park, has been an annual feature throughout December since 2021 when it was launched by the Eastbourne BID.

A spokesperson for the BID said: “Eastbourne BID organised and operated the Lightning Fibre Ice Rink at Eastbourne Railway Station car park for the first two years of its existence, in 2021 and 2022, creating a fun, festive experience.

"It was a big challenge to launch and operate the event in the town, particularly during Covid, but one that we know was enjoyed by many.

“In 2023, we handed all of the running and operations of the ice rink over to the brilliant Feastival team, who took it forwards, adding new onsite activities, along with increased food and beverage options. Your Eastbourne BID has not been involved since 2023, but has always been a big supporter and has sponsored the event.

“Sadly, the Feastival team have decided not to operate the ice rink in 2025, but they are bringing the Santa Elevator Experience once again to the Enterprise Shopping Centre.

“Your Eastbourne BID will of course work with other partners who may be interested in bringing the ice rink or any other events to the town.”
