Felpham flats help people with autism live alone

NEW flats will give people with autism more freedom.

The supported living accommodation, next to the Autism Sussex Resource Centre in Summerley Corner, Felpham, was officially opened on July 3.

Made up of three ground floor flats, each with their own bedroom, ensuite, living room and kitchenette, the accommodation is for those with autism spectrum conditions.

Susan Brigstock, resource centre and outreach manager, said: “The new flats are wonderful; we are really pleased with them.

“They really are a lovely place to live.

“They will be ideal for those taking the first steps towards living on their own.

“Living in the new flats will give them a greater sense of independence and improved confidence. Support will be given to those living in the new flats but it will be given on an individual basis depending on their needs.”

Occupants will also have the opportunity to access facilities.
