Actor and dancer Saaj Raja, along with his father Shash, appeared on I Can See Your Voice last weekend hoping to win £10,000.

The duo were presented with six singers and were asked to eliminate the bad singers based on their lip-syncing skills and clues based on their occupations.

Saaj, who has recently appeared in a Netflix Bollywood thriller, and Shash were helped in their investigations by Jimmy Carr, Amanda Holden and Alison Hammond.

The trio and presenter Paddy McGuinnes were joined by Boyzone star Ronan Keating as a guest judge.

Saaj says he and his dad were invited on to the show after producers saw a TikTok video of the pair dancing in the garden last summer.

He said: “We got asked if we wanted to be on the show because we put on a good performance I guess, and they liked the chemistry between me and my dad.

“My dad didn’t take much convincing!

“We always said that he’s got a face for TV so we’ve been trying to get him on TV for a while!”

Things got off to a shaky start for Saaj and Shash. The duo unwittingly eliminated two good singers in the opening rounds.

Saaj said: “The stakes were so high after the first two rounds. The celebrities threw us off a little bit if I’m being honest.

“They all jumped on Commercial King (in round one) not being a good singer and, if I’m honest, we were swayed by them and thought, ‘yeah Jimmy Carr’s right, it can’t be Commercial King’!

“I’ll take the flak for the second round choice because my dad thought Smooth Operator could sing but I wasn’t convinced by his performance.

“You replay it in your head and think you’d have done it differently but in that moment you’re a little bit flustered.”

But Saaj and Shash fought back. The two removed a bad singer in the penultimate round and were hoping their final choice - Junior Doctor - would secure them the cash prize.

But Junior Doctor had deceived them all, when her duet with Ronan Keating revealed she couldn’t hold a note.

Junior Doctor’s deception saw her take home the £10,000 and left Saaj and Shash with nothing.

Despite the final outcome, Saaj thoroughly enjoyed his appearance on the game show.

He added: “We were really gutted but at the end of the day it was a great experience. All of our family are really proud of us.

“My dad had a great time as well. It’s Saturday night prime time TV and we got to do a bit of Bollywood dancing with the celebrities.

“We’ve been getting loads of calls from family and local people saying it was nice to see a familiar face.”
