A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said the fire on Cherry Tree Close caused around 10 square metres of damage.

He confirmed firefighters were called to reports of a shed alight at 11.55pm on Wednesday 6 May.

The spokesman added: “Crews from Horsham and Billingshurst were mobilised to the scene, and upon arrival found a fire involving two sheds, the fence and a hedgerow to the rear of one of the properties alight.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control using two high pressure hose reels and one jet.”

Crews remained at the scene using a thermal imaging camera to ensure there were no further hotspots, he added.

The last appliance left the scene at 1.25am.
