Fitting send-off for Worthing couple who died five days apart after 71 years married

A Worthing couple who died five days apart after being married for 71 years have been given a fitting send-off.

Pat and Ron Wood, aged 91 and 94, were from long-standing Worthing families. After both contracting coronavirus, the pair were placed in beds alongside eachother at Worthing Hospital to spend their final days together. Pat sadly passed away on May 18 and Ron five days later on May 23. Ron was Worthing Football Club’s top goalscorer after the Second World War and the Woods’ funeral possession passed the Worthing ground in Woodside Road yesterday (June 8).
