Fontwell care home residents create plaques celebrating their memories
Residents at a Fontwell care home have taken part in a creative project celebrating their lives and memories.
Residents at Westergate House care home in Fontwell have been creating personal memory plaques celebrating the objects, experiences and memories that have shaped their lives.
The project, inspired by the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), saw residents work with the home’s Activities Team over several weeks to create individual plaques featuring items of personal significance.
Residents chose their own keepsakes and pressed them into dry clay before casting them in plaster to capture their shapes and details. Each finished piece was then framed using an embroidery hoop.

The plaques reflect the different lives and experiences of residents, with each one telling its own story. They are now on display in the care home’s reception area, where residents have been sharing the stories behind their creations with visiting family and friends.
Paul Middleton-Russell, Senior General Manager at Westergate House, said: “We are incredibly proud of what our residents have achieved. A huge well done to everyone who took part, and to our Activities Team for bringing this project to life.”
