Former East Sussex home of James Bond actor Desmond Llewelyn, who played Q in 17 Bond films, on the market for £2m

Knight Frank estate agents is advertising the property near Battle for £2 million.

The actor lived at the house, called Whitelands, for almost 30 years.

He played gadget master Q in 17 Bond movies, first appearing in From Russia with Love in 1963. His last appearance was in the 1999 Bond film The World is Not Enough.

The actor starred alongside five different actors who played Bond: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.

Knight Frank describes the house on its website as a 'most handsome, detached, double-fronted Georgian house with stunning gardens, swimming pool, annexe, garaging and outbuildings, in a convenient location just over a mile' from Battle.

It adds: “This beautifully presented double fronted Georgian property is unlisted and provides substantial and well-proportioned accommodation with many period features typical of the period such as high ceilings, large windows and fireplaces.”

The estate agent said that downstairs, the house has two reception rooms, a kitchen, and an adjoining dining room, while the house’s five bedrooms are on the two floors above.

Knight Frank added that the property also includes a detached, self-contained annexe with its own reception room, office, bedroom, bathroom and games room.

There is a kidney-shaped swimming pool, an outdoor dining area and a pool house with a shower and sauna, the estate agent said.

Whitelands also has stables and a garage.

Mr Llewelyn had long-standing links to Bexhill and Battle, Bexhill Museum said.

In an entry on the museum's website, it said: “In 1957 the Llewelyn family moved to Whitelands in Battle where Desmond became friends with the Dean, Arthur Naylor. Pamela, Desmond’s wife had inherited Linkwell in Bexhill Old Town to which the family moved in 1965 and where he lived until his death.

“He became a much-loved and respected figure in the Old Town and was a vice-president of the Old Town Preservation Society. He was always ready to help local causes.”

The actor also starred in other films, such as A Night to Remember, Cleopatra and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
